Seals Winter Classic: New Youth Box Lacrosse Tournament Coming to San Diego
San Diego, CA – A brand-new youth box lacrosse tournament is set to make its debut this winter in Southern California. The Seals Winter Classic will take place on February 1st and 2nd, 2025, bringing together top youth teams from across the region for two days of competitive action at Rady Children’s Field in San Diego.
Four teams will headline the event, each representing a growing force in the box lacrosse community:
- Junior Seals (San Diego, CA)
- Utah Sting (Salt Lake City, UT)
- PacBox (Pacific Northwest)
- Emerald Lacrosse (Portland, OR)
Teams will compete in three age divisions:
- 2027/2028 Graduation Year
- 2029/2030 Graduation Year
- 2031/2032 Graduation Year
In addition to the on-field competition, all teams will attend a special event on Saturday evening: the San Diego Seals vs Saskatchewan Rush National Lacrosse League (NLL) game at Pechanga Arena. This unique experience will allow young players to witness professional box lacrosse live, providing inspiration and an opportunity to connect with the sport at its highest level.
“We’re thrilled to host the Seals Winter Classic and bring these talented teams together in one of the nation’s most vibrant lacrosse communities,” said tournament organizers. “This event not only offers high-level competition but also gives the players a chance to bond over a shared love for the sport.”
With teams competing across multiple age divisions, fans and families can expect thrilling games from some of the region’s most promising youth players. The tournament is also a testament to the ongoing growth of box lacrosse, particularly in the Western U.S., where programs like the Junior Seals and Utah Sting continue to develop talent.
